Today I woke up at 5:10 a.m., and I was very tired and a little hot. I got moving quick, did Scott's ironing, got my clothes on, washed my face/ brushed my teeth, and then went and drank some water and got my access bar for pre-work-out.
Carmela picked me up at 5:30 a.m., and we were on our way to go get Brenda. We had a nice little morning ride/ conversation and talked about Wednesday's spinning/ running workout, and about how we are getting stronger and building endurance.
So, I ate my access bar on the road and had a little water, and then we got to the gym and talked with our work-out buddies while we wated to get started.
Then at 6:30 a.m., we started our morning workout with walking some laps, then we went to running/ jogging, and I did mostly running with walking interspersed since I was halving calf pain/ muscle cramps that were aggrevated by the jogging. We did that for about half an hour.
Then we went into the gym, which is nice on a cold morning, and we got our weights and mats, and started with some core workout strengthening moves...those are tough. We did three sets of the sequence, and I could tell that it was hard for everyone. It is amazing how weak my core is as well as the hip-flexer area. I love that we are working all those under-used muscles. I was shaking/ sweating, but I noticed that push-ups are still hard, but I am getting stronger. I am also getting stronger in the abs too. The extremely difficult ones were the mountain hikers, and the plank pose in all its variations...HELL!!!
Then we used the BOSU Ball for strengthing/ using the core while doing our arms/ weights. This really added a great dynamic and it was tough, but good. I think we need more of this stuff!
Then after that, we did some breathing and stretching, and I was feeling good and thinking of going to the evening workout. We'll see how that goes later though.
So, got home made myself an attain meal replacement shake and a coffee and drank some more water. I am just resting now and feeling a little pain in the inside calf still...wonder if it's injured??!!! I need to do some light walking or moving this afternoon, and I am already a little bit hungry and getting ready for my mid-morning snack!
Here's my food journal so far...
5:15 a.m.- water, access bar
6:30- 7:30 a.m.- water while working out
8:15 a.m.- attain meal replacement shake (including 1 cup NF Soy milk, 1 banana, ice, 1 scoop choc attain), 1 cup coffee, soy creamer, 3 splenda, water
10:45: Whole wheat shredded wheat cereal with NF Milk abd 1 pack Splenda, light soft cheese wedge, water
12:00pm: Amy's Enchiladas (frozen meal) 3g fat-organic/ whole wheat, 1 small bag of carrot sticks, water
2:00pm- dried fruit
5:30pm-apple, water
7:00-8:00- work-out with Rudy (lots of water)
8:45pm: brown rice (chicken broth and OO), mixed roasted veggies (O.O., chick broth powder, pepper), roasted white chicken breast (no skin) with seasoning, water, weight watchers (1 seving) mint N Chipe ice cream (3g fat).
So, I went to the 2nd work-out because I was feeling really energized and so curious to try it, and see how my body did. The floor work and warm-ups went well. When we started with some ab and push-up sets/ cycles, I definitely felt it because those are the same muscle groups that I did this morning. I made it through, then it was time for cycling for about 25 minutes, and I pushed myself really hard and felt the burning the whole time. At one point, I felt like my legs couldn't keep going, but they did. I sweat so much. I was drenched, and I felt spent, but it was a great feeling. I'm happy that I went ahead and did the double session.
